Day 0: Saturday – Arrival in Panama
Transfer to the beautiful Gamboa Rainforest Resort. The Gamboa Rainforest Resort is a luxury hotel nestled in the tropical rainforest along the banks of the Chagres river where it enters the world famous Panama canal.
You can relax after your flight by strolling its beautiful grounds, take a refreshing dip in its gorgeous pool, have a massage in their spa, take a free night tour to see local wildlife like sloths and capybaras or simply relax in a hammock on your private balcony while you listen to toucans, wild parrots and even howler monkeys settling in for the night.
Day 1 – Sunday
After breakfast at the hotel, we visit a local vortex on the grounds of the resort to connect with the energy of the earth, water and sky. After time to meditate and integrate the vortex energies, we will take a 3 hour boat tour out on Lake Gatun, one of the largest manmade lakes in the world and part of the Panama canal. While on the Lake you will be guided to connect with the Mer-Goddess of the Lake and we’ll do a water ceremony to bless the canal waters that flow out to both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, carrying your blessings out with it to spread across the globe.
On this boat tour, you’ll also be able to see wild monkeys, sloths, iguanas, toucans, hawks, and crocodiles, etc. After the tour we’ll drive to the Panama canal Miraflores locks and museum, where you’ll learn about the spiritual significance of the canal, as well as learn about the 7th man-made wonder of the world. Lunch (not included) will be served on a balcony terrace at the Miraflores locks, so you can watch the ships transiting the canal pass by as you eat your meal. Then we’ll travel out to the Pearl islands, either by a short 20 minute flight, or a 1.5 hour ferry to Contadora island. You will have the rest of the afternoon free to settle in to your home away from home the B & B Contadora Island Inn,
You may explore the island, any of its 11 beaches (including Panama’s only nudist beach) or have a snorkel lesson with your trip leader if you wish. Group dinner and than an evening guided meditation will be led to connect you with your very own Dolphin or Whale spirit guide who will introduce you to the whales and dolphins you’ll be meeting the next day.
Day 2 – Monday
After breakfast we’ll take a short walk or golf cart ride to meet our boat and begin our adventure with the Whales & Dolphins. Often you can spot your first whales while standing on the beach waiting for the boat shuttle! This will be your introduction day to the whales and dolphins and they’ll be in complete control of what they choose to share with the group. Let go of your daily routine and worries, and to learn to simply BE in the moment with the cetaceans.
Breathe deep, enjoy the whales and dolphins, the warm tropical sun and refreshing clear waters, and open yourself to receiving all the love and wisdom the whales and dolphins are eager to share with you. Lunch on board the boat, then return to the CII for free time to explore the beaches and the island or rest and integrate the day’s experiences. Dinner at CII followed by an evening presentation depending upon the theme of each week. It could be a guided meditation, group activity such as journaling, yoga, group dolphin energy healing, etc.
Day 3 – Tuesday
After breakfast meet for our 2nd day out with the Whales & Dolphins. Dive deeper into your immersion with the whale and dolphin energies. The whales and dolphins will ask you to open completely and embody dolphin and whale living skills such as living in Joy, Flow, Abundance, Transparency and Love.
Your trip leader will assist you in receiving the whale and dolphin wisdom through teachings and stories of her past experiences with the cetaceans. Lunch on board the boat, then return to the CII for free time to explore the beaches and the island or rest and integrate the day’s experiences. Dinner at CII followed by an evening presentation.
Day 4 – Wednesday
After breakfast take a short walk to Mermaid Beach for an individual meditation. At this particular beach we’ll feel the presence of the mermaids very strongly and it is a perfect place to meet them during your meditation. After the meditation you’ll have some free time to explore the beaches and island. Lunch at the CII followed by time out on the boat for an afternoon and sunset cruise with the whales and dolphins.
By this day you will be an “old hand” at whale watching and you will have established a strong connection with the whales and dolphins. Be prepared for amazing surprises, that will result in the cetaceans sensing your deeper connection and comfort level with them. This may come in the form of a swim with the whales or dolphins, floating in the ocean listening to a nearby singer or some close encounters with curious whales and dolphins who love to be close to people who completely open themselves to receive the whale and dolphin love. Dinner on board the boat followed by some reflection time on the boat as it heads back to port. We encourage you to find a spot to lay back, look at the stars and allow all the whale and dolphin energy you have been exposed to in the last 3 days flow in to you.
Day 5 – Thursday
After breakfast head out for our boat and another day with the Whales & Dolphins. Each day is unique on the water observing wildlife. This may be a day to observe the rowdy males showing off for the females or a day to watch a young humpback calf learn how to breach. We may also visit one of many other secluded islands for a snorkel on a coral reef teeming with beautiful tropical fish, or visit a white sand beach for some shell collecting.
Lunch on board the boat followed by a ride back to our hotel and free time to explore the beaches, the island or rest and integrate the day’s experiences. Dinner out as a group at Gerald’s restaurant (the best restaurant on the island). Gerald’s has plenty of local seafood – the owner is German so there are fabulous items such as bratwurst and apple strudel to die for. This will be your last night on the island and our dinner will be a celebration of the magical time with the whales, dolphins and new friends you have made on the trip. (This dinner not included in package price.)
Day 6 – Friday
After breakfast we will meet our boat for our last visit with the Whales & Dolphins. This will be a day to be in complete gratitude for all you’ve experienced on this powerful trip. Gratitude to the whales and dolphins, Contadora, and the Pearl islands for their nurturing energy, your boat captain and crew, your trip leader, Panama and all its natural beauty and healing energies, and most importantly gratitude to yourself for gifting yourself time and permission to simply BE with the whales and dolphins and receiving all the love and wisdom they have to share with you.
Lunch on board boat then we’ll return to CII to pack and say good bye to the Pearl Islands. 3:30 pm ferry or flight back to Panama City. Then around 5:30 pm arrive at the Balboa Inn B&B. We’ll be happy to help you arrange or recommend any longer stay or tours while you are here in Panama.
Day 7 – Saturday departure day or Embera’ Village Day
Breakfast at the Balboa Inn then transfer to the international airport for your flight home OR consider staying for an optional Embera’ Village Day or overnight tour (this can be done before or after your whale retreat). Do not miss this unique opportunity to visit a traditional Embera’ Indian village, deep in the tropical rainforest. The Embera’ tribe still live as they have for millennia and are very warm and friendly and love sharing their culture and traditions with visitors. Cost $200.00/person for the overnight, (if more than one person, $250.00 for a single traveler). Day prices vary between $175.00-120.00 person depending on the number in group.
