Dear Friends,

WHAT’S NEW? ~Pissed off & Angry?!~

Angry

Let’s face it – the media, politics, and the current world-wide economic condition certainly gives us plenty of material to be angry about. And by the same token, they give us plenty of material to use for our process of enlightenment.

Anger is a funny thing – we often feel so righteous about it – but in the end it never solves anything. Emotions alert us to the perspective we are choosing to operate from but they don’t change anything in our world. Only action with clarity can do that.

We all get tweaked in day-to-day life and we are constantly challenged to step back and decide if we want to “eat” that anger – as there is a huge price to pay for indulging that emotion.

Marcus Antonius once said: “Consider how much more you often suffer from your anger and grief, than from those very things for which you are angry and grieved.”

Indeed! What are the effects our bodies must sustain every time we get angry? High blood pressure, ulcers, indigestion, and rashes to name a few. The adrenaline-caused arousal that occurs during anger can last a long time lowering our anger threshold, making it easier for us to get angry in the future. In addition, the adrenaline constricts our blood-vessels and cortisol stresses our adrenals.

In the end, perhaps our desire to change the way our brains process information and our passion for a life filled with compassion and kindness is the ultimate act of self-love and self-respect we could gift ourselves. I certainly think so – what do you think? **Don’t forget to post your feelings below!**

OUR FEATURED JOURNEY

DELRAY, FL: Honoring & Healing the Goddess Within! – February 9–12, 2012
A great winter get-away!

Ladies, are you looking for…

  • A beautiful healing weekend in Florida out of the February chill?
  • The opportunity to share and grow in a sacred circle of Goddesses?
  • Some peace and quiet to center yourself and detach from life’s insanity?
  • A chance to focus on YOU, what you are feeling and needing in this moment?

Florida Women's Spiritual Retreat

Too often as women we spend our time devoted to our parents, children, partners, and work – along with maintaining a busy schedule filled from morning to night every day. Finding time to dedicate to ourselves for massage, meditation or even a quiet moment is a real challenge!

But on this special weekend before Valentine’s Day we celebrate and honor our inner beauty, strength and love within a sacred circle of sisterhood. It’s time to put time aside to recharge, rejuvenate, and re-center ourselves.

Together we will walk the labyrinth, share in a fire and pipe ceremony, experience a singing bowl meditation and so much more – all designed to help you to release those feelings of being off balanced, overworked or whatever is blocking your peace and sanity.

Our sacred space will be at the Duncan Conference Center in Delray Beach, Florida. Their five-wooded acres of peace and serenity, delicious and nutritious food, clean and spacious accommodations, are located only 30 minutes from the Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale airports.

The 2012 trip cost is: $995.00 USD per person double occupancy, all meals.  Details for Delray here!

ALES’ TRAVEL COLUMN

THE TRUE BENEFIT OF TRAVEL!

Ales Struna

My son Isaac and I are about to embark on another one of our travel adventures. This time we’ll be rediscovering places I haven’t been to for ages and that my son has never seen, combined with spending time with family and friends in Europe. The highlight of our trip will be a visit with my amazing 90 year old grandmother in Slovenia!

Our itinerary will include metropolises like: London, Paris and Zurich – and quaint little towns like: Fuessen in Southern Germany, and Chatez in Southern Slovenia. Eight countries in 30 days, sounds exciting right? Yet – for the last few days I’ve been thinking; “Why are you doing this – again?

Hohenschwangau Castle in Fussen

Hohenschwangau Castle in Fussen

It’s so comfortable here at home and I have a daily routine: a nice cup of coffee in the morning, taking my son to school, work, taking a fun mid-day break, watching my favorite movies in the evening, and back into my own cozy bed at night.

Why give all this up for a whole month, racing across the Atlantic to visit some old buildings and sleep in a different bed every few days? After all, I can meet all my old friends on Facebook and ring-up those family members and friends that are not into social networking (yes, there are still a few of those around!).

I sat with my thoughts while meditating and then I had quite a revelation which further deepened my respect and love for travel. And it’s this: My daily routine is just my daily routine – and even though I meditate daily and take time for myself to become a more enlightened person, it’s simply not enough.

I could clearly see that my comfortable and daily routine limits my spiritual expansion because every day is predictable – and even if something unpredictable does happen, I at least have some control over what is happening (or so it seems).

What’s is most profound to me about traveling is that we are always treading into the unknown. We don’t know what kind of emotions will well-up within us standing in the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris and how it might deeply stir our soul. We can’t predict how our hearts might be moved looking down into the pastoral valleys from Germany’s tallest mountain – reveling in the beauty and perfect harmony of all that is.

Traveling allows us to expand beyond what we might ever experience in our daily environment; it challenges us, surprises us, and reflects hidden aspects of ourselves back to us. Journeying to me represents the ultimate discovery of myself – which why I am so passionate about travel

When interacting with different people, cultures, traditions, and languages – I am challenged to expand my heart, move past my petty fears and limiting points of views. (OR, I can choose to stay in a narrow perspective and insist that my culture embodies the best way of living.)

Because of this, every journey broadens the mind and spirit, and opens new doors to the soul that might never be opened.  A quote I recently read shares so eloquently what I know to be true in my heart:

When we get out of the glass bottle of our ego and when we escape like the squirrels in the cage of our personality and get into the forest again, we shall shiver with cold and fright. But things will happen to us so that we don’t know ourselves. Cool, unlying life will rush in.”
~ D. H. Lawrence

And with this new found wisdom in my heart I am ready to embark on another adventure! Watch this space for some of our travel stories which I look forward to sharing with you over the next few weeks. And if you’ve had a transcendent travel experience – let me know and post below!

Blessings & love, Ales Stuna, Director of Custom Travel Services.
