Flora Bowley (pronounced bowl-lee) is an internationally celebrated painter, teacher, author and inspirationalist. Her vibrant paintings are rich with color, soul and imagination, and her love for life is clearly apparent in her playful creations. Flora thrives in the magic of the moment, intuitively allowing her organically inspired paintings to unfold naturally and often changing courses along the way. Flora believes there are no mistakes in the creative process and strives to do something new in every piece. Flora’s unique process of layering free-flowing color with natural forms and expressive mark-making combine to create vivid paintings born from the present moment; chaotic, subtle, mystical and ever-changing.
“My creative process is one of letting go, being brave and allowing my art to unfold naturally and spontaneously. I love surrendering to the mystery of what can happen when I let go of what ‘should happen’ and watch as my paintings come together in ways I never could have imagined. I invite this way of surrendering and listening to my intuition into my life as well. I find that so many more magical moments occur when I give them space to happen. This means being really open to the moment, focusing my energy on what is already working, committing to positive self talk and staying flexible when surprises do arise. Embracing this idea of surrender is a lifelong practice and it’s not always easy, but I find the rewards are well worth the effort and the journey is one of unfolding magical moments!”
Flora combines eighteen years of professional painting experience with her background as a yoga instructor, massage therapist and lifelong joy seeker to infuse her teaching and painting style with a deep connection to body, mind, and spirit. By honoring intuition and celebrating the present moment, Flora encourages her students to overcome fear and welcome joyful spontaneous expression back into the creative process. Her transformational approach to painting (and living) and has inspired thousands of people to “let go, be bold and unfold” as they step fearlessly into the creative process.
Flora lives and works full-time as a painter in Portland, OR, where she is inspired by magical forests, abundant gardens and a thriving community of fellow artists. Throughout the year, Flora enjoys traveling, painting, and teaching her “Bloom True” workshops in colorful locations around the world. Her work can be found in numerous galleries and also on a variety of unique products made in collaboration with Papaya Art. Flora is currently working on book titled, “Brave Intuitive Painting” to be released by Quarry Publishing in the Spring of 2012. She feels blessed everyday to do what she loves and to inspire others to do the same. Catherine was voted one of the best wedding photographers in the country by earning a spot in the “Top Knots” photography competition sponsored by Photo District News in 2005, and again in 2006. Since then she has been showing her work around the country. She also leads an online Soul*Full eCourse and leads Soul*Full photography Retreats around the world.
Catherine combines her photography experience with her personal transformation from a raging drug addiction at the age of 18, to continuous sobriety for the past 24 years. Artistic expression was the biggest factor in Catherine’s recovery. It gave voice to stories that were hidden underneath layers of fear and doubt. Jumping into the creative process helped Catherine find a way to connect with the world around her and with the world within.
Catherine encourages people to combine photography with spiritual practice, writing and physical well being to create a more Soul*Full life. All of these aspects of life connect with one another and inform each other. Photography can help you see every day moments as sacred, and Catherine explores this idea in her Soul*Full eCourse and retreats. Catherine encourages her students to let go of fear, doubt and perfectionism and just try! Catherine’s down to earth approach helps create a sacred space where people feel at ease and safe to explore and create.
