Itinerary for Teotihuacán

« Back to Trip Overview

This is a sample itinerary that we suggest – however we can create something
very special for you focused on your personal interests!

Day 1 (-/-/d)

Teotihuacan Retreat

Arrive at the airport and be shuttled in private transport to Teotihuacan where a home-cooked meal awaits you at The Dreaming House located behind a gated wall in the village of San Sebastian Xolopan, adjacent to the ancient city of Teotihuacán. Within its spacious compound are a dozen rooms decorated with the art of Mexico’s past, both recent and distant.

The rooms have modern conveniences, but no modern annoyances. Settle in, unwind and walk our labyrinth to introduce yourself to the ancestral spirits of this sacred land. A traditional ceremonial presentation by Aztec dancers will provide the perfect welcome to you, and you are welcome to dance along!

Day 2 (b/l/d)

TeotihuacanRetreat

One of our professional guides, wise in the indigenous nahuatl ceremonial ways, will lead you through an experience in the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacan. History, mythology, and ceremony will take you from temple to temple as you explore the many dimensions of what made this city sacred and continue to be alive with spirit.

In the evening, sit down for some lessons from local artisans about natural paints and clay work in the old tradition.

Day 3 (b/l/d)

Mexico City has such an exciting past that one could spend many days visiting interesting sites, but our one-day excursion will give you a taste of the highlights. The day-trip can be tailored to your specific interests, and you can choose a combination of locations such as the world-class Anthropology Museum, the Zocalo central plaza in the Historic District with the “must-see” Diego Rivera murals in the National Palace, Frida Kahlo’s “Blue House” with a stroll through colonial Coyoacan, or a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Guadalupe.

Day 4 (b/l/d)

Join one of our local guides again for a nature hike into the hills to enjoy an amazing view of the pyramids, learn about wild medicinal plants and hunt for crystals, original clay pieces and obsidian arrowheads. Relax in the afternoon with a vigorous massage and “limpia” purification in the native Mexican style by our staff curandera.

Day 5 (b/l/d)

Tula

Choose from 2 destinations for your day trip today – Tlaminca or Tula! Tlaminca is the inspirational home of legendary poet-king Nezahualcoyotl, an engineering feat and architectural marvel set high up on a mountain near Texcoco, where you can sit in the ruins of ancient temples and baths, dreaming your creativity into being while gazing at the expansive views.

Tula is a small ancient city that rose to glory after Teotihuacan’s demise. It was home to the historical Toltec, and to their famed ruler Ce Acatl Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl, human incarnation of the mystical Feathered Serpent deity that has guided Meso America throughout the ages. Here you can dream with the giant “Atlante” figures atop the main pyramid and connect to your inner warrior spirit. In the evening, close your journey back here in Teo with a fire ceremony in the sacred caves near the pyramid of the Sun.

Day 6 (b/-/-)

We leave Teotihuacán for the Mexico City Airport today renewed and with a change of heart. New friends have been made and old friendships made stronger. We look forward to the challenge of bringing this new dream home with us along with the skills we have learned to create a healthier and more joyfilled life!
