Itinerary for Embodied Spirituality« Back to Trip Overview
Day 1 – Friday, October 19th: Arrive at Ghost Ranch
We ask that you please plan to arrive at Ghost Ranch by 5pm. Time to get settled into your room, take a breath of the fresh desert air, and meet your retreat members! We will be gathering for our Welcome Circle, campfire and a delicious dinner to begin our time together under the stars. Bring a warm sweatshirt! We’ll go over the general structure for our next days together, talk about your personal retreat goals and get to know each other before our first full day begins on Saturday.
Day 2 – Saturday, October 20th
Awaken Saturday morning with the bird song and wonder at the glory of the desert! Embodied spirituality means seeing spirit in every day things. Did you notice how the sunlight hits the pink rocks at dawn? Did you see that jackrabbit bounding across the sage-filled plain? Did you notice the caress of the desert breeze across your cheek? Allow the magic of this place to take you. What do you notice as you relax?
Today we will stay at Casa Del Sol for the day, where we will explore the embodiment of spirit through our breath, through teachings, through walking the Casa’s Heart Labyrinth, and making mandalas. A mandala is a circular art form that creates a container for creative and healing work. Mandalas are considered sacred in many cultures. Insights abound as we make the space for our inner voice to be heard. Our cup is bring refilled.
Our activities will begin at after breakfast at 9:00-12:00, break for lunch, resume activities at 1:30 until 3:30, at which point you have private time to nap, journal, walk the land, or use as you will. We will meet for dinner on the main campus at 5pm and take a brief tour, including the 24 hour Ghost Ranch library, where you are welcome to check out a book or two while you are here! Night time campfire starts at 8:00 pm.
Day 3 – Sunday, October 21st
After breakfast we will settle in at the Art Center on the Ghost Ranch main campus where we will spend a large portion of the day in a creative and insightful collage workshop and walking the Ghost Ranch Labyrinth. Designed on the Chartres model, the main labyrinth is a one-half mile circular path for prayer, meditation, and reflection. We will create a collage utilizing our whole brain that answers some of our deepest questions. The theme of the day will center around embodiment of spirit in our own lives. We will take meals at the Ghost Ranch meal hall for lunch and dinner, then meet at 8:00 pm for campfire time under the stars to share our stories.
After breakfast, we will caravan over to Ojo Caliente Spa to spend the day soaking in the 7 mineral springs and walking their labyrinth at the banks of the Rio. Steeped in myth and legend, these ancient springs have been a gathering place and source of healing for hundreds, even thousands of years. The use of the waters can be traced back to the earliest human settlements in the region. This is a day of rest, reflection and integration of the insights you have gained during our more active creative/learning time. Allow the sweet waters of the earth to hold you while you ground spirit in your precious physical body in a deep, new way. We come together for dinner and campfire back at the Casa in the evening to enjoy our last night together.
Day 5 – Tuesday, October 23rd
Enjoy a final breakfast and then we leave our sacred ground for home. The desert has worked its magic on you, and you realize how the precious time of rest and reflection has changed you. Taking your insights and a refilled cup home with you, we say our last goodbyes in Closing Circle and with hugs we prepare to take our experience of “heaven on earth” back to our lives.
ALL activities are optional; your job is to take care of yourself and do what feels right for you! We have built in lots of activities, but also plenty of time to rest and integrate what you are learning/discovering. Your relaxation is paramount to getting the most out of your retreat.
Keep In Mind:
Every day will be a magical experience for all of us, so keep your heart and mind open to the experience life brings us. Sharing in the group setting is an experience of trust, opening and deepening our spiritual connections. The power of Licia’s teachings (please make sure that you align with the group leader’s philosophy) comes from our combined energy and if group process does not interest you, then this trip would not be your best choice.
