Honor your body at Mar de Jade!

Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Mar de Jade with its graceful contours and Mediterranean style serves as a gathering place for spiritual events. The spacious layout of the property offers a sense of privacy as it blends with the natural surroundings of Chacala, Mexico complete with luscious mango and papaya trees, hammocks beneath palm trees, and the beautiful beach.

Delicious and nutritious meals are served three times a day, usually buffet style, in the breezy open-air dinning pavilion overlooking the ocean. In their daily preparations they use fresh local products: fish, sea-food, chicken, cheese – and abundant fruits and vegetables: lettuce, arugula, beans, figs, hibiscus, papaya, mango, bananas, and pineapples. The majority of vegetables and fruits come from their own Organic Farm. They make their own yogurt, granola, tofu, hummus, breads and baked goods, pastries, desserts, peanut-butter, and marmalade’s.

Mar de Jade’s kitchen staff is happy to accommodate special dietary restrictions such as allergies, vegans or vegetarians, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc. All of their raw foods are carefully disinfected and washed with purified water. Purified water is also provided for drinking. All food served at Mar de Jade is prepared with great care, attention and love.

People travel from all over the world, surpassing many obstacles along the way, for the once in a lifetime chance to see His Holiness and learn from him! On this special journey of the heart, Tibetan Lama Buga and Lisa Tully will be leading our group to McLeod Ganj, India to attend public teachings by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and to learn Buddhist meditation from teachers of his lineage and be with his local Tibetan family.

The Heart of the Buddha

Attending the public teachings by His Holiness will afford you the opportunity to experience the immense power of this man’s heart. He refers to himself as “a simple monk” but rest assured this is an incredible, albeit typically Tibetan, understatement. Although His Holiness tirelessly travels the globe reaching out to as many “brothers and sisters” as possible, the authenticity of seeing him reach out to his own people in his home temple is a totally different experience.

For example, looking around you will see devotees falling into deep states of meditation simply by being in his presence. People bursting into tears at the mere sight of him as he gently opens hearts that little bit wider. As the saying goes “a broken heart is an open heart.”

Deepening Your Practice

Our meditation retreat is a 10 day silent retreat run by the internationally renowned Tushita Meditation Centre. Nestled high up in the forests far away from any hustle and bustle, this welcoming haven is perfect for those who want to get away and explore their true nature. This is a serious retreat that will provide the tools needed to begin or enhance a daily meditation practice and to learn more about Tibetan Buddhism.

McLeod Ganj is also know as “Little Lhasa” as it is filled to the brim with Tibetan lamas, monks and nuns meditating for the benefit of all sentient beings in the many monasteries, nunneries and secluded retreats scattered around the hilltops. Ancient Stones

Here, on the plateau of Giza, 2,300,000 blocks of stone, some weighing as much as 9 tons, were used to build an eternal tomb for a divine king. The art, design and proportion of these structures were truly a testament to their beliefs of resurrection, transformation and divine illuminated consciousness. When these ancient stones speak to us, whispering their mysteries and wonders, we will be ready.

Reading John Anthony West’s book: The Traveler’s Key to Ancient Egypt: A Guide to the Sacred Places of Ancient Egypt (<– Look in our recommended books) is a great way to prepare for this journey! It’s not a typical travel book, but instead focuses on the spiritual intent of these amazing structures.

Connecting with the Whales

On this special journey, we will get close-up and personal with the Grey Whales, sending them energy and love. Just for a moment, imagine touching and connecting to one of these majestic mammals – running your hand over her bumpy back, looking deeply into her eye as she rolls over in the waters. There is something amazingly magical and transformational that happens when you look into the eyes of one of these creatures. There’s no description for the feeling of meeting a Grey Whale and her babies up-close – witnessing this beauty is a special experience. Do take a moment to watch the video on the right! –>

Magdalena Bay Habitat

We’ll be staying on Magdalena Bay in comfortable walk-in tents along the beach, with special showers, and yummy Mexican food. Magdalena Bay is ranked by the World Wildlife Fund as one of the nine most important coastal habitats in all of Mexico. Each evening our local guide will chat about the whales and wildlife of the area giving us a deeper appreciation of this delicate ecologic balance. Water activities feature whale watching from skiffs and paddling kayaks through tangled mangrove estuaries rich with wildlife. On land, you’ll have fun walking on – or tumbling down – towering sand dunes, along miles of unspoiled beaches.
